Information about the Tuvalu currency

Currency

Australian and Tuvaluan currency are both in use, but transactions over A$1 are always conducted in Australian Dollars. For details of Australian Dollar denominations, see the Australia section.
Tuvaluan Dollar (TVD; symbol TV$) = 100 cents. Coins are in denominations of TV$1, and 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 cents.

Credit & debit cards

Credit cards are not accepted, but MasterCard may be used at the National Bank of Tuvalu for cash advances.

Traveller's cheques

Australian Dollars are recommended.

Currency restrictions

There are no restrictions on the import and export of foreign or local currency.
